Municipalities, centers of education, counties and other government organizations are increasingly motivated, from within and from without, to lead the way in adopting renewable energy resources. However, the technical expertise, capital funding and maintenance burden required to implement such projects can be more than daunting. Additionally, tax-funded institutions are ineligible to receive the substantial tax incentives and grants that are available to private-sector companies.

The Solar Services Agreement (SSA) has been developed to address the unique challenges of solar deployment in today’s economic and policy climates. The SSA provides the opportunity for organizations to have medium-to-large scale solar facilities installed on-site with no capital expenditure. Green Power Company facilitates the development of these projects, which are constructed, owned, operated and maintained by Kenyon Energy.  The facility host then purchases the solar-generated energy at a contractually-fixed rate that is competitive with traditional power production and that provides a long-term budgetary hedge against utility company rate hikes.
